With higher-than-normal water levels, a flood outlook statement has been extended.

The Timmins Flood Advisory Committee meets regularly to review the local situation. Today, it extended the flood outlook statement, which is an early notice of potential flooding based on weather forecasts and other conditions that could lead to high runoff, ice jams, lakeshore flooding or erosion.

"City residents are once again cautioned against venturing out on lakes, rivers and small streams where slippery stream banks, dangerous currents and fast-moving cold water will make all waterways very hazardous," reads the news release, which also asks parents to warn their children about the dangers.
