The provincial election campaign is now in full swing.
Ontario’s election officially starts today (Jan. 29). Election day is on Feb. 27.
While it's the early days of the campaign, here's a look at who's running in Mushkegowuk-James Bay and Timiskaming-Cochrane.
In Mushkegowuk-James Bay, two candidates are on the ballot so far.
Progressive Conservative David Plourde, the mayor of Kapuskasing, has entered the race.
Prior to being elected as mayor in 2018, Plourde served as a municipal councillor since 1994.
Incumbent Guy Bourgouin is carrying the NDP banner for Mushkegowuk-James Bay.
Bourgouin was first elected in 2018. He lives in Kapuskasing with his wife Manon, and is a trained tradesperson.
The Liberals and Green Party have not named candidates for Mushkegowuk-James Bay yet.
In Timiskaming-Cochrane, three candidates are on the ballot so far.
Tory Delaurier was acclaimed as the Progressive Conservative candidate for Timiskaming-Cochrane last month. He is currently the Iroquois Falls mayor.
Veteran NDP MPP John Vanthof was nominated in September to run for the party again. He was first elected in 2011.
Vanthof is currently the Opposition House Leader at Queen's Park, and is also the NDP critic for Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
West Nipissing Coun. Kris Rivard is the Green Party candidate in the riding.
The Liberals have not named candidates yet.
