Almost 100 years ago to the day, Timmins held its very first market. On Saturday Aug. 5 1922, the market opened and proved to be a great success.

The first market day began with three to four vendors with their produce to sell. The goods sold quite quickly and buyers were satisfied with their purchases of fresh produce from the farms. Officer E. A. Roy was in charge of the market.

After a successful launch, an open invitation was open to all. The location was next to the "rink" but it is unclear what specific one.

The Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre regularly provides TimminsToday readers with a glimpse of the city’s past.
