There are now 28 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Porcupine Health Unit area.
The health unit has released the details on five cases, including one reported yesterday by the Medical Officer of Health Dr. Lianne Catton in the daily health table update. At the time the case had just been confirmed and the details on the case were not provided.
The 24th case is a woman in her 50s who is in hospital. She was tested March 31 and the investigation is ongoing. She is in the Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls, and Smooth Rock Falls area.
The other cases are in Timmins.
These cases include a woman in her 50s who is a contact of a confirmed case who is in hospital, a man in his 60s who is a contact of a confirmed case and is in self-isolation, and a woman in her 30s who has travelled internationally who is in self-isolation. A man in his 60s has also tested positive and is in self-isolation. That investigation is ongoing.
As of this morning, the health unit is aware of 387 tests submitted locally. Of those, 28 have been positive and 314 were negative. They are waiting on the results of 45 tests. Five positive cases have been resolved.
