COVID-19: Here's the situation in Timmins today

No new COVID-19 cases were reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today.

After a spike of five confirmed cases last week, so far this week one new case has been reported in the region. The last positive test was reported Nov. 1. 

To date, there have been 99 confirmed cases in the region. Of those, 88 are recovered and nine people have died. There are two known active cases — one in the Hearst, Hornepayne area and one out of region. 

As of Wednesday, Nov. 4, there was one active outbreak in the region. It is at the Porcupine Health Unit's Hearst office, which is temporarily closed. 

The health unit is aware of 33,314 tests being done locally. That's an increase of 218 from yesterday's report. Since Monday's report, 2,599 tests were completed. 

Public Health Ontario reported 1,003 new COVID-19 cases today. To date, the province has confirmed 81,693 cases. Of those cases, 70,086 are recovered (85 per cent) and 3,209 people have died (4 per cent).

Anyone who visited the McDonald’s restaurant in Chelmsford on Oct. 30, 31 and Nov. 1 should take direction from Ontario Health Services, the corporation has said, after three employees reported they tested positive for COVID-19. The full story is available here.
