A new COVID-19 case has been confirmed in the Timmins area.
The person is the contact of a case and in self-isolation, according to the Porcupine Health Unit (PHU).
"Public health will notify all close contacts directly. If you are not contacted by the PHU, you are not considered a close contact. Regardless of an announcement of a case, everyone is reminded to stay home if they have symptoms and get tested," reads the bulletin.
This is the 128th lab-confirmed case of the virus in the area. There are nine known active cases — three in Timmins, one in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls, and five in Moose Factory.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne.
The COVID-19 Assessment Centre in Timmins is operating on holiday hours this week.
It's open Dec. 28 - Dec. 30 and Jan. 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Dec. 31 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. It is closed Jan. 1 and Jan. 2.
