New COVID-19 case reported in Timmins

Editor's Note: Newmont Porcupine has reported a Hoyle Pond Mine employee has tested positive.

The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting one new COVID-19 case today. 

It is a person in Timmins. According to the health unit, the person is a contact of a confirmed case. 

This is the 101st confirmed case of the virus in the region, and the 55th in Timmins. 

Of the total confirmed cases, 88 people are recovered and nine people have died. There are four known active cases — two in Timmins, one in the Hearst, Horneypayne area, and one outside the region.
