Public Health Ontario has reported 981 new cases of COVID-19 today - about 300 fewer than the previous day. However, the public health authority says "ongoing data maintenance" at Toronto Public Health might be a factor in the lower numbers.
More than half of today's new cases are from the Greater Toronto Area, including 122 new cases in Toronto, 209 new cases in Peel and 171 new positives in York Region.
The province is reporting 42 more deaths related to the coronavirus over the past 24 hours.
The Feb. 13 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:
- 1,235 new recoveries
- 705 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario, down from 786 reported yesterday. However, it's important to note, more than 10% of hospitals did not submit data to the Daily Bed Census. The number of hospitalized patients may increase when reporting compliance increase
- There are 292 COVID patients in intensive care units (up from 287) and 203 COVID patients on ventilators (unchanged from yesterday).
