Riders ignoring physical distancing means more changes for people using the service, according to the City of Timmins

Effective Friday, May 22, regular Timmins Transit buses will be limited to a maximum of 15 people and seats will be cordoned off to prevent people from using them, announced the city in a news release.

The transit service is still operating on enhanced Sunday service and is free to use. Riders should enter and exit through the rear doors and only use it for essential travel.

The city is reminding people to respect the minimum of two-metres (six feet) physical distancing.

"This means if buses are at capacity, passengers should make adjustments to their travel plans or consider catching the next available bus where safe physical distancing can be maintained," said Fred Gerrior, Transit Services manager.

According to the city, staff will continue to monitor the situation and further service adjustments may be made to protect the health and safety of staff and customers.
