People shopping local means a Timmins business is boosting the hospital.

J&B Cycle and Marine has donated $5,500 to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation to buy a Vital Signs Monitor with a stand and thermometer. Both are for the medical floor.

“Writing this cheque would not be possible without the support of our patrons and the dedication of our employees who serve our valued customers. This gesture is directly related to choices that were made to shop local and how it enables neighbourhood businesses to help grow the economy and support local associations, youth sports teams and our hospital," said Rob Racine, J&B general manager, in a news release.

Foundation manager of donor relations Barb McCormick said “the vital signs monitor is a fundamental component of patient care just as local businesses are to every northern community.  We are grateful to J&B Cycle & Marine for choosing to invest in our community, in our hospital.”
