8 new COVID cases reported in Timmins and area

Eight new COVID-19 cases have been reported by the Porcupine Health Unit. 

Six people are in Timmins and two are in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls. One of the cases is related to an outbreak and the rest of the people are the contact of a case.

To date, there have been 498 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 378 are recovered and 25 people have died. There are 95 known active cases.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
