Theriault hosts an ‘Evening of Applause’ to celebrate diversity efforts

Join us for the second annual Evening of Applause to celebrate our community’s outstanding role models in the field of human rights and anti-racism at Thériault on March 30 From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

TIMMINS - The evening includes awards for the Student who Makes a Difference, and diversity and tolerance (anti-racism) poster contest, the inductions of Human Rights Wall of Fame, entertainment from our local schools as well as special performances from our cultural groups.

It will be the culmination of months of awareness raising and the promotion of tolerance in schools and in the broader community.

The event is free and all are invited to attend. It all takes place in the École Secondaire Catholique Thériault Auditorium.

The event is in conjunction with the United Nation’s International Day for the Elimination for Racial Discrimination which takes place around the world on March 21 each year.

This will be the second year for this project to be celebrated in Timmins.

The project aims to recognize those who have demonstrated leadership in human rights or anti-racism activities locally, regionally, nationally or internationally.

Photos of inducted members of the Human Rights Wall of Fame will be displayed near the main entrance to the Timmins Public Library/ CHMA Building, which has been generously sponsored by the City of Timmins.

The event is organized by a planning committee representing the Université de Hearst, Collège Boréal, District School Board Ontario North East, Conseil Scolaire Public du nord-est de l'Ontario, Northeastern Catholic District School Board, Conseil Scolaire Catholique de District des Grandes-Rivières, Northern College, Timmins Local Immigration Partnership, Timmins & District Multicultural Centre, Algoma University and the City of Timmins.
