An auxiliary Timmins Police officer stepping down from his role has been a "real ambassador", says chief John Gauthier.
At this week's police services board meeting, Rob Ferri's resignation was accepted.
Ferri used to be a full-time special constable and tendered his resignation from that a few years ago, said Gauthier. Ferri stayed on as an auxiliary sergeant and member of the honour guard.
“Rob served in that position, very, very proudly for a number of years. He came to see me early in November and tendered his resignation both from the honour guard and police auxiliary unit," said Gauthier.
He said Ferri is a "real ambassador to the police service" and will be missed.
Police services board chair Rob Knox echoed the chief's comments.
“Rob Ferri is a true gentleman and a real asset to this organization. I first met him while I was a member of the Pipes and Drums and we were marching in New York City and Rob was a member of the colour party. We marched seven miles up Fifth Avenue in the blowing snow," said Knox.
