KASHECHEWAN - A pair of women are looking forward to treating themselves to a little sunshine with a $100,000 windfall.

Christine Head and Sheila Friday of Kashechewan won $100,000 on the encore draw of the Sept. 13 Lotto Max. The two have been playing the lottery together for the last couple of years and always add the $1 encore to their tickets.

It was Friday who discovered they'd won big.

“I checked our ticket on the OLG app and when I saw the ‘Big Winner’ screen, I thought, ‘Is this real? That looks like $100,000!’ I sent Christine a screenshot from my phone and the excitement started to build,” Sheila recalled, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their winnings. “Then, I called Christine, but she didn’t answer. When she called me back, she had the same question I did: ‘Is this real?’”

Head said she couldn't believe it.

“I was excited and in disbelief at the same time. Of course, we always hoped to win big, but never thought it would happen. It’s surreal,” she said in the news release.

With the windfall, the each plans to pay some bills and take a trip. They agree that they'd like to treat themselves to a relaxing beach vacation with a lot of sunshine.

The winning ticket was bought in Timmins at the 101 Mall Variety on Pine Street.
