Downtown Timmins has a new leader.
The Business Improvement Association announced today that Jessica Mayer is the new executive director. The role has been vacant since late last year when Cindy Campbell left for a new opportunity.
“I am thrilled to take on this role with the Downtown Timmins BIA. This is my hometown, I love this city and I’m grateful for this opportunity to help make a difference in our downtown core," said Mayer in a news release.
The new head of the organization representing businesses downtown has a background in social work and has a bachelor's degree in Arts General and Community Economics, according to the BIA. The organization says she's also an active board member for agencies in Timmins and Toronto.
"Although Jessica is new to the executive role, she has proven leadership skills that have been gained from her many experiences in other governance management roles, and she brings a unique set of skills with her," reads the news release.
The organization says Mayer is well supported by the BIA's board of management.
“I am excited to welcome Jessica to this role and with our guidance I believe she will champion the board's vision”, said Cory Robin, BIA board chair.
