Gilbert Scott took home $195,548 in the April 50/50 draw for the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation.

A Timmins man was excited to win the April 50/50 draw for the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation.

Gilbert Scott was looking forward to enjoying the sunshine on Friday when he got a phone call from the hospital foundation with the news that he won $195,548. He plans to use the windfall to buy a house, according to the announcement.

"After he realized the call wasn’t a prank, the news only started his weekend out better. Gilbert said the only thing he had ever won until this point was a game of bingo so he decided to yell the loudest bingo you could ever imagine over the phone," reads the foundation's announcement.

"When we called him back an hour later to collect his information Gilbert was still shaking, he couldn’t believe the news. He said he thought about doing a polar bear dip in Gillies Lake to make sure he wasn’t dreaming!"

Tickets for the May 50/50 draw are on sale now. They're available online here.
