Get ready to grow!
Seeds are being offered once again this year through the Timmins Public Library's seed library. Budding designers and artists are also being encouraged to take part in a logo contest.
The seed library started five years ago. People can borrow seeds to grow. Borrowers are asked to return seeds harvested from the plants to replenish the seed library's inventory, which is available at the C.M. Shields Centennial Branch of the library at 99 Bloor Ave., South Porcupine. There are currently 3,112 seed envelopes available.
Three sessions are being offered via Zoom leading up to the growing season. The sessions are:
- Tuesday, April 5, 6 p.m. - Spring into pruning with Cochrane District Master Gardeners
- Thursday, April 28, 2:30 p.m. - Introduction to food forests, Black River Foraging Co.
- Tuesday, May 5, 6 p.m. - Invasive vs. native plants with Cochrane District Master Gardeners
For the logo contest, the deadline to enter is Saturday, April 30. The logo will be used on all seed library advertising.
The winning design will be chosen by the community on Facebook. The full rules and details on how to enter are available here.
