At the request of the Timmins Transit Operations Manager, the Timmins Police Service is issuing a Traffic Advisory in regards to the halting of municipal Timmins Transit bus service for the evening of Saturday, Dec. 11.

The halting of service was deemed a necessity due to worsening road and weather conditions.

A full resumption of service will take effect as the severity of conditions begins to improve.

Local motorists and pedestrians are urged not to venture out onto city streets unless it is absolutely necessary until road and weather conditions improve.

Additionally, the Ontario Provincial Police have closed Highway 11 from Matheson to Hearst and Highway 655 to Cochrane as well.

Lastly, the public is being asked not to call 9-1-1 to inquire about road and weather conditions.

911 is an emergency service line that is to be used responsibly and only in cases where an element of urgency applies.

Information about road closures is available at 511 and Environment Canada offers the most up to date weather information. Please make use of the following link: link.
