TIMMINS - The local services board sticking to their core services is the preferred way forward for people who took a TimminsToday poll.

Recently, the question was put to the Cochrane District Services Board members about whether the agency should continue offering non-mandated services or stick with its core services.

The core mandated services of the CDSB are paramedic services, community housing, children's services and Ontario Works.

For the online poll, which was open for the past week, 254 people voted.

Sticking to the core responsibilities was the top choice for 56 per cent of the people who participated in the poll.

Expand services based on community needs took 24 per cent of the vote, with 21 per cent of people saying they need more information.

Results are based on an online study of adult TimminsToday.com readers that are located in Timmins. The margin of error - which measures sample variability - is +/- 6.12%, 19 times out of 20.
