There was a celebration 25 years in the making today.
The North Eastern Ontario Family and Children's Services (NEOFACS) Brighter Futures program marked the anniversary of the Community Action Program for Children (CAPC).
For the milestone, past and present families and volunteers stopped by for cake and lunch.
"Since 1993, CAPC projects have been supporting children and their families facing challenging circumstances. CAPC is a community-based children's program that promotes the healthy development of young children zero to six years of age," said Rachele Pelletier, NEOFACS co-ordinator.
"Over the last 25 years, the community of Timmins and surrounding area have created strong relationships and strengthened community capacity to increase supports for vulnerable children and their families. The ongoing success lived by many families is an achievement worth celebrating."
Today's celebration is also helping the centre mark National Child Day.
"This year's theme is a child's right to an identity. This involves young people developing a positive sense of who they are and feeling they are valued and respected as part of a family and community," she said.
Holding signs with different rights of children, families paraded through the NEOFACS halls.
There were also activities to promote self-expression, free play, and parent-child engagement while raising awareness of children's rights.
