Criminal charges against a former Timmins councillor have been dropped.
In 2017, Rick Dubeau was charged with corruption of a municipal official and breach of trust by a public officer.
At the time, Dubeau was sitting as a Ward 5 councillor. He was not re-elected to the council table in the October municipal election.
Today in court both charges against him were dropped.
"This has been a very trying time for me and my family," said Dubeau.
"I always had faith in the criminal justice system and we are relived that the process is over, I always felt that this issue was the result of a misunderstanding. At no time did I offer my support as a councillor to Goldcorp."
He also thanks people for their support.
"Most notably we would like to thank our lawyers Luc Maissonneuve and Ben Dawkins for their moral support and hard work in developing an incredible case for my defence that has resulted in all of the charges being withdrawn."
