With the bridge near Hoyle on Frederick House Lake Road set to close indefinitely, the City of Timmins has provided some more details on it.

The closure of the bridge that crosses Porcupine River on Frederick House Lake Road will affect all traffic, including cyclists and pedestrians. It's effective Nov. 22.

For fire response from the volunteer station in Connaught, a statement from the city says there is no change in response.

"There will be a maximum of an eight-minute variance in secondary response from Timmins/Whitney to the furthest point up Frederick House Lake Road," said the city.

Instead of taking the back road into Connaught just past the Met site, people can access Frederick House Lake Road via Carrigan Road.

Any upgrades to Carrigan Road would be part of the environmental assessment process, which would include public consultation on whether the bridge should be replaced or removed. The city said that process starts after the closure.

"The city is mandated on how we move forward with any structure closure. In this case, you ensure public safety first by closing the bridge with enough advance time to allow for sufficient public notice. We hand-delivered notices to impacted residents, provided information to the media, and posted the complete process on Timmins.ca. Highway and road signage is also in place," reads the statement.
