COCHRANE - Dumping garbage in a parking lot landed a Cochrane man a $1,001 fine.

At a Dec. 3, 2024, court hearing, John Sullivan pleaded guilty to dumping a bag of garbage on public lands. The Public Lands Act violation netted him a $1,001 fine.

James Bay enforcement union conservation officers in Cochrane found the garbage in Hanna Township south of Cochrane on Oct. 8, 2023. Officers told the court the garbage was left at the Little Lake access point parking lot.

"The investigation led conservation officers to Sullivan who admitted to the offence," reads a Ministry of Natural Resources news release.
