TEMISKAMING SHORES — Thanks to the fundraising efforts of some key community partners, Temiskaming Hospital is now offering five Smart Beds to its patients.
The Temiskaming Hospital Foundation shared the good news with the community via social media, noting the Biker's Reunion to Battle Cancer, Ontario Power Generation, and Frog’s Breath Foundation generously funded the beds.
"We received a shipment of five Smart Beds for Temiskaming Hospital," reads the post. "Thank you to all three organizations for funding this purchase of beds. Because of your support, we can continue to provide quality, patient-centered care in Temiskaming Shores."
The hospital says the state-of-the-art Smart Beds provide extra safety for patients and reduce the risk of falls by raising or lowering the beds through hands-free, voice-activated technology. The beds also sync to the hospital's call bell system — notifying nurses if the bed is in an unsafe position.
