Cory Marks career continues to soar. Evidence of that is his newly framed gold certified record.

Today, critically acclaimed North Bay artist officially announced the Gold certification of his breakout, genre-defying single "Outlaws & Outsiders" featuring Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch, Travis Tritt and Mick Mars of Mötley Crüe in Canada.

The hot tune was a global hit with over 33 million streams worldwide and was featured in the Sno Babies movie soundtrack.

"A gold-certified record is a huge milestone here in Canada especially on a debut single during these difficult COVID-19 times," Marks told BayToday.

"It has barely been a year since the release so that is really cool and for me, as an artist, you are unable to tour and perform those songs live for the very same people who bought, stream and downloaded your music so I am very proud and thankful for that to have these numbers in the millions without technically ever playing a show so hopefully that pays off when we are allowed to do that but it really showed me people are connected to this song and that people are loving and wanting this country-rock sound."

And what better way to celebrate the accomplishment than releasing a new version of his song "Blame it On the Double."

"It is the perfect country-rock anthem going into the weekend and I just think it makes you feel good and want to let go of that hard week and makes me want to sing, drink and have a good time and maybe get into a little trouble too," said Marks.

The new version features Tyler Connolly of Theory of a Deadman and Jason Hook, produced by fellow Canadian Kevin Churko. The track, released via Better Noise Music, is described as "a re-imagined version" of the original; a laid back country anthem that appeared on Marks’ highly-anticipated debut album Who I Am.

“I love what Cory is doing," Connolly said about the song.

"I think he is the future of Outlaw Country Music. When asked to be on the track from management, I jumped at the chance to be on it."

The release is accompanied by a high octane music video, taking place at a drive-in, painting the full range of celebratory and trouble-making sentiments in the song’s lyrics.

The video features a performance from the acclaimed trio of Canadian artists and footage from upcoming horror-thriller The Retaliators, in which Cory also makes his acting debut on screen.

"We had a lot of fun shooting this video in L.A. and it was cool being able to spend time with these rockers," noted Marks.

"They were very humble and kind souls with a rock n roll attitude that really enjoyed being on this track and I thought that was pretty cool!"

2020 was a landmark year for the country newcomer garnering over 39 million worldwide streams and a critically acclaimed debut album, WHO I AM. Marks’ debut was released in August last year, it reached #1 on the Country Digital Songs Sales Chart, #3 on the Top New Artist Albums Chart, and #3 on the Canadian Country Albums Chart. Billboard praised the newcomer for his "shape-shifting" styles on the debut record, displaying apparent ties to the country genre.
