Small groups of people gathered downtown South Porcupine to see a longtime fixture in the community get torn down.
Crews from the Salvage Kings TV show, which airs on the History Channel, took down the bulk of the building yesterday. This morning, the facade of the once-popular bar known as The Zoo was taken down.
Throughout the process, local residents stopped to watch the building be demolished and reminisce about time spent inside.
It's one of four buildings the production company is taking down.
In July, Timmins council gave the go-ahead for The Salvage Kings to take down three city-owned properties — the Central Tavern, the old Tisdale public works shop on Evans Street, and a Schumacher house. Along with the city-owned properties, there is also a private residential demolition.
