Timmins' biggest music festival has kicked off and is bigger than ever.
This year, Rock on the River has grown to a three-day event.
Dean Brody, Tim Hicks, and Eric Girard and the Travelers were the first acts to hit the stage of the annual festival being held at Hollinger Park.
The action is back today when Bret Michaels brings Parti-Gras to town.
Tonight's line up is Ruuster at 6:15 p.m., Honeymoon Suite at 7 p.m., Lita Ford plays at 8 p.m., and Bret Michaels with special guests Dee Snider and Steve Augeri are the headliners at 9:30 p.m.
The VIP section is sold out, but general admission passes can be bought at the gate while supplies last.
Free activities are also being held today and tomorrow in Hollinger Park before the main action hits the stage in the ticketed area.
Today (July 19) is an Indigenous in partnership with Mushkegowuk Council. Stop by to try Indian tacos and shop the craft vendors. The schedule is:
- 11 a.m. - Grand entry, flag song, opening prayer, and an honour song for First Nation veterans
- 11:30 a.m. - noon - Intertribal, spot dances, MC Gerald Chum will introduce the style of dance exhibition
- Noon - BMX And Extreme stunt show
- 12:30-1:30 p.m. - Round dance to end pow wow showcase, blanket giveaway
- 1:45 p.m. - BMX And Extreme stunt show
- 2:30 p.m. - The Swamp Rockers
- 3:30 p.m. - The Poets
- 4:15 p.m. - BMX And Extreme stunt show
- 5 p.m. - Adrian Sutherland
On Saturday, there are activities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Hollinger Park.
