Timmins, Ont. - Eastlink Television in Timmins,today announced the times for the first 5 editions of Voices starting of with the Premiere Monday, November 18 at 5:15 p.m..
Voices is a series which features the talented writers, singers and leaders of our great Northern community sharing their poems, stories and songs on a weekly five minute spot produced right here in Timmins at the EastLink Studios on Mount Joy Avenue South. dedicated to promoting the spoken word, story telling and song from Northern Ontario
"As the Producer of the Voices TV series on EastLink TV, I am proud to announce that our very own Mayor Tom Laughren of Timmins, MP, Charlie Angus, MPP Gilles Bisson and Vern Cheechoo, talented musician from Moose Cree and eight other poets and musicians will be featured on Voices, the new EastLink TV series beginning this coming Monday November 18, 2013" said Voices Producer Frank Giorno
"I have to thank Neil White, Brent and the Timmins EastLink crew for their tremendous support in making this project celebrating the life of Northern Ontario possible," Frank Giorno the founder of Timmins Voices, Northern Voices Journal and now the producer of Voices.
Mayor Laughren's appearance features him reading an original poem written by Frank Giorno, that celebrates Timmins as the "Land of the 100 Year Gold Rush."
Charlie Angus the MP for Timmins-James Bay sings a Timmins-James Bay version of Hank Snow's and Johnny Cash's "I've Been Everywhere Man", plus an own composition.
Gilles Bisson MPP for the provincial riding of Timmins-James Bay will speak on a topic very close to his heart and all of the people working in the mining industry and that is mine safety.
The Voices Series will start of Monday November 18 with Frank Giorno reading his two latest poems; "Northern Voices Calling" and "My Nation is a Train.....Wreck".
The Voices series airs at 5:15 p.m Monday evenings in Timmins and then repeated through the evening.

2. Monday Nov. 25 Timmins Poet Bill Shaver a)Happy Today b) L.O.V.E. Is. Bill suffered a major brain injury in 1991 as a result of a winter sport mishap and spent 169 days in a coma. With the love of his friends, family and team of dedicated surgeons Bill has made a tremendous recovery. His poetry expresses his gratitude at being a live. People contributes greatly to helping people in crisis and need. He is the Associate Editor of Northern Voices Journal
3. Monday Dec. 2 Vern Cheechoo great country singer from Moose Factory now living in Timmins sings "Lonesome and Hurtin'" song he co-wrote and appears in the classic Bruce McDonald film "Dance Me Outside"
4. December 9, Charlie Angus as mentioned above sings a Timmins-James Bay version of Hank Snow's and Johnny Cash's "I've Been Everywhere Man", plus an own composition "Cold Blue Eyes."
5. Dec. 16 Paula Mascioli on the contribution of the Mascioli Family to the development of Timmins..
The dates for the subsequent seven episodes are still to be announced, but will feature: Timmins Mayor Tom Laughren; Gilles Bisson, MPP, Timmins-James Bay; Katlyn Malo, photographer and author of Timmins: A Portrait of a Home Town; Michelle Couture dynamic young poet from Timmins; Ana Niemi Gibson, a poet from Timmins whose expresses the sounds of her soul; Ray Cool and gifted singer/guitar player who sings in both French and English; Rob Lillie, an excellent singer/songwriter with a powerful voice
