Employee's cell phone stolen from restaurant

Police have completed investigation into theft of a cell phone which occurred at an “employee only” section of a local restaurant

The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into a theft of a cell phone which occurred at an “employee only” section of a local restaurant on Aug. 30.

An employee at the restaurant discovered that his cell phone, valued at nearly $850, had been taken from his personal effects.

An investigation was initiated and, thanks in part to video surveillance equipment, a suspect was identified, and the cell phone was recovered by the Timmins Police Service.

Additionally, Justice Okimaw, 21, of Timmins has been charges with:

  • One count of Theft Under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

She was arrested by the Timmins Police Service on August 31st and is awaiting a bail hearing scheduled for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
