The Lee Pool in Englehart is expecting a great summer season this year even amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Town of Englehart recreation coordinator Alex Regele said the summer of 2020 “was about adjustments” and ensuring the safety of employees of the pool and the public.

“The staff did a great job of following health and safety guidelines all summer,” he noted in an email interview.

With an eye on this summer’s swim season, Regele said the town hopes to keep improving operations and the overall experience that it provides the public when they visit the pool.

“The Town of Englehart, as always, hopes to open the pool in late June and have it in operation until late August,” he explained.

“With that said, the Town of Englehart will follow the guidelines put in place by the Province of Ontario and the Timiskaming Health Unit to ensure safety for staff and the public.”

Regele also noted the town was hopeful about offering swimming lessons this summer “as we were unable to offer them in the summer of 2020 due to COVID-19.”
