Expect to see military vehicles in the Timmins area

TIMMINS - Increased military traffic on local roads is expected in the coming days. 

From Nov. 1-3, the Canadian Armed Forces is moving personnel and equipment from Timmins, Sudbury and North Bay to Burwash, Ont., for a training exercise. 

The exercise is called Wolfhound Strike and includes Algonquin Regiment personnel, the Irish Regiment of Canada and 33 Service Battalion.

"Personnel will converge on Burwash Range and Training Area to conduct simulated combat operations, and military vehicles will utilize Highways 11 and 17 with increased traffic on Friday night and Sunday afternoon," reads the news release.

"Participating personnel will be planning short halts during the movement at preplanned locations along the routes for fueling and rest. Members of the public may see uniformed members with their vehicles along these routes with unloaded weapons."
