WEATHER ALERT
ENVIRONMENT CANADA
*************************
Flash freeze warning in effect for:
- Timmins - Cochrane - Iroquois Falls
Temperatures are forecast to fall rapidly. Ponding water, slush, and any falling precipitation will freeze as the temperature drops.
Hazards:
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous.
Timing:
Later this morning through the afternoon.
Discussion:
Rain along with above freezing temperatures will continue in regions east of Timmins to Gogama and eastward towards the Ontario-Quebec border this morning. Temperatures will then fall rapidly with the passage of a cold front late this morning. Residual water on the surface from fallen rain is expected to freeze rapidly, creating icy conditions on roads and sidewalk.
Impacts:
Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.
Flash freeze warnings are issued when a rapid drop in temperature is expected, that can cause water from rain or melted snow on streets and sidewalks to quickly freeze.
