A flood warning remains in effect for the Mattagami River and Porcupine Lake.
According to the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority (MRCA) watershed update, the Timmins Flood Advisory Committee is meeting daily to review conditions. The warning is in effect until tomorrow (May 3), when the committee will re-evaluate the conditions.
The snow depth and water content remain above normal.
According to the MRCA, the water content variances are 250 per cent to 450 per cent above normal throughout the Upper Mattagami Watershed.
At Mesomikenda, Mattagami Lake, Wawaitin and Peter Long the winter drawdowns have been completed. Where possible, the MRCA said the reservoirs were drawn lower than normal to prepare for the snow melt.
"As a result of the recent rain and snowmelt conditions, we have seen some of these reservoirs begin to build, and inflows are higher than normal for this time of year. Storage reservoirs are being managed in consultation with the Flood Advisory Committee in an attempt to “peak shave” and mitigate high water concerns in the City of Timmins," reads the update.
Staff continue to keep an eye on watercourses.
The MRCA says Town Creek, Crawford Creek and other waterways are mostly ice-free and flowing well.
