This Cedar Street South property, which used to house the Windsor Tavern before it burned down in 2013, has been sold for the new owners to use as a parking lot.

The site of a once-popular watering hole is officially a parking lot.

JPL Group Inc. has bought 80 Cedar St. S. for $71,100.01 from the City of Timmins. The property used to house the Windsor Tavern, which was destroyed by a fire in 2013.

“The community development committee received some inquiries to purchase this property so the directive was to put it on for public tender and four bids were received,” said Scott Tam, Growth and Infrastructure director.

JPL Group plans to use the property for parking, according to the staff report. The property was valued at $53,000.

A numbered company buying two other properties was also approved at the May 30 Timmins council meeting.

Surplus land on Pine Street South - Deloro MP P9757 was bought by 1074127 Ontario Inc. for $60,000. The property was valued at $58,000.

"The proposed use of the subject land may be future residential development with an immediate use to grant access to the abutting property, which is owned by a related company for residential development and sale," reads a city report.

The same company bought Pine Street South - Deloro MC P11478 for $60,000. The property was valued at $57,000. The property use is listed as the same for both parcels of land.
