Hundreds of students from local French schools turned up at city hall to celebrate Le Jours des Franco-Ontariens and Franco-Ontariennes last year. Due to the weather, this year's activities are being held at Ecole secondaire catholique Theriault. Maija Hoggett/TimminsToday

With today's rain, organizers of the Franco-Ontarian Day celebrations in Timmins are turning to plan b.

Instead of the celebrations taking place outside of city hall this afternoon, everything will take place in the auditorium at Ecole secondaire Catholique Theriault.

More than 500 students are expected to take part in the celebration.

For the ceremony, there will be speeches starting at 1:10 p.m., followed by a choreographed dance at 1:40 p.m.

With the festivities moving inside, the traffic advisory issued by Timmins Police is also no longer in effect and Algonquin Boulevard will be open to traffic this afternoon.
