WAWA - WHITE RIVER - PUKASKWA
AGAWA - LAKE SUPERIOR PARK
TIMMINS - COCHRANE - IROQUOIS FALLS
CHAPLEAU - GOGAMA.
A significant ice storm is underway across portions of northeastern ontario.
A warm front has stalled near a line extending from Lake Superior Provincial Park to Kirkland Lake.
As a result, communities such as Wawa, Timmins and Cochrane will remain well-entrenched in the cold air, keeping temperatures below the zero degree mark.
The earlier break in the weather has ended as the next and final round of freezing rain has begun.
It should continue most of the evening, at times mixed with ice pellets, before tapering off later this evening or overnight.
Total ice accumulation from the freezing rain may be on the order of 15 to 25 mm in some areas.
Travellers should note that untreated surfaces will likely be icy and very slippery, resulting in dangerous travelling conditions.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and extremely hazardous.
Beware of branches or electrical wires that could break under the weight of ice. freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures
creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
