A Timmins overnight emergency shelter has received some good news.
Living Space executive director Jason Sereda said the Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board (CDSSAB) has received word that provincial funding is on the way.
Earlier this week, the non-profit organization announced it would be closing its overnight shelter program because it hadn't received notice of funding, which is usually given prior to April 1.
Living Space has learned that funding is on the way for the Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative and Home for Good programs.
A temporary closure of the shelter will still take effect April 29.
"They have begun the allocation process, and Living Space will hopefully know what our funding will look like by late next week," said Sereda.
"This unfortunately means we will need to proceed with the shut-down as planned, but the good news is that we expect the shut-down to be temporary and short."
During the temporary closure of the shelter program, the organization will still operate its 11 transitional housing units and daytime drop-in programs.
