Grant boosts curling club

McIntyre Curling Club picks up $38,900 Ontario Trillium Grant

Timmins' curling club has received a welcome boost from the province.

Last week, the McIntyre Curling Club picked up its $38,900 Ontario Trillium Grant cheque from Timmins MPP Gilles Bisson.

The cash will help with rent, salaries and operating costs such as upgrading the computer system and updating equipment, said club manager Kim Meunier.

“It will definitely help after being closed down since last December," she said.

The ice for 2021-22 season is in and the club hosted its first tournament of the season over the weekend.

In February, Timmins is hosting the 2022 Canadian Under-18 Boys and Girls Curling Championships.
