Monthly gatherings bringing local women together are gaining in popularity.
AssemBELLE Women's Social Gathering has rebranded and is taking registrations for the upcoming season.
“It’s a fun night. You don’t have to cook and you meet people and you have fun. You can even have a drink if you want,” said president Kim Meunier.
The group has its roots in 1988 when it was a women's business group, which later changed to the Women's Information Network. Its latest transformation is attracting new members.
“It’s an evening out to meet people in the community. And a lot of times the members that come … I found stuff out that was going on in our community that I didn’t even know existed because somebody who’s sitting at my table shared it. It’s information sharing, but at the same time it’s a social gathering of women in our community," said Meunier.
Every month the members hear from a different speaker and enjoy a meal together.
If you sign up for the year, the cost is $40 plus the cost of the month's meal. There's a $50 fee for non-members attending a meeting.
Before the pandemic, the group was between 150-170 members.
“But since this little rebranding, so far we have about 45 brand new members without our regular members coming back,” said Meunier.
