HEARST - Paying off bills, travelling and taking in more sporting events is on André Doucet's bucket list thanks to a recent windfall.
The Hearst man won $103,619 on the Oct. 23 Lotto 6/49 draw. The millwright and father of four has been playing the lottery for 20 years and plays his own numbers on the game.
“I was at the store using the ticket checker to see the outcome of my ticket. I didn’t have my glasses on and thought I saw a prize of $100 on the screen,” he said in an OLG news release. “I took my ticket to the clerk, and she confirmed that I’d won much more.”
When he called his wife to share the news, she thought he was calling to say the store was out of burgers.
“I asked her to come to the store right away and shared the news that I had won a big prize on my ticket. She thought I was joking because I’m always kidding around, but she still made the drive. She couldn’t believe it was true," he said.
With the windfall, he plans to pay off bills, travel more and enjoy some sporting events.
The winning ticket was bought at the Canadian Tire Gas+ on Front Street in Hearst.
