Despite the unpleasant weather forecast, Mother Nature was good enough to hold off the down pour long enough to allow the Timmins Athletic Coalition and approximately 70 volunteers to host the 2014 Timmins Heart Of Gold Triathlon.Athletes from across Northern Ontario met at Gilles Lake in Timmins to compete in a "Sprint" Triathlon with distances of 750m for the Swim, 20km for the Bike and a 5km Run.
For athletes new to the sport, there was also a Try-A-Tri which was the same combination of swim, bike and run but at half the distance, as well as a Kids Triathlon for the younger athletes.
All of the competitors showed the success of their training and their will to win, with the following rankings being posted by the end of the day.
