Winter storm warning in effect for:

  • Timmins - Cochrane - Iroquois Falls

Winter storm conditions are expected this weekend.

Hazards:
Snow, at times heavy, with accumulations of 10 to 20 cm by early Sunday morning. Additional snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 cm are possible in some areas on Sunday.
Freezing rain with ice accretion of 2 to 5 mm possible on untreated surfaces.

Timing:
This afternoon to Sunday afternoon.

Discussion:
Snow begins from west to east this morning and may become mixed with ice pellets or freezing rain tonight, especially from Wawa to Chapleau. Any ice pellets or freezing rain is expected to transition back to all snow on Sunday morning. Snow will taper to flurries from west to east Sunday afternoon.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.

Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
