The spring storm is blowing in a number of closures.

While it's snowing and windy outside right now, a freezing rain warning remains in effect for Timmins, Cochrane and Iroquois Falls.

The weather conditions have led to a number of closures. Here's what's affected so far (to have your business or event added to the list, email [email protected]):

  • Timmins Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are cancelled.
  • Employment Options Emploi office is closed. Staff can be reached at ti.employmentservices@northern.on.ca or optionsemploi.timmins@collegeboreal.ca.

Driving Reminders

The Timmins Police station is open, but it is sharing a traffic advisory reminding drivers to be careful. They say there have been a few collisions today, but so far there have been no injuries.

Police are asking the public to take the time and effort necessary to clear all accumulated snow off of your vehicle before venturing out onto city streets.

Standard winter driving practices need to be in full use today and include:

  • drive attentively
  • reduce your speed
  • allow for greater following distances
  • make use of your vehicle’s lights to increase the prospect of being seen in low visibility circumstances.
  • if you don’t really need to go out, put things off until conditions improve.
