TIMMINS - It's a mixed bag of snow depth data in the first watershed report of the year.
A sign that spring is on the way, the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority's (MRCA) is starting to release its reports on the conditions across the watershed. These measurements were taken prior to the snowstorm that's been hitting the area for the last couple of days.
Right now, the MRCA says snow depth and water content conditions are above and below normal, depending on the station.
"Inflows across the watershed are holding within the normal range for this time of year. Elevations are on track to meet targets as reservoirs continue with draw down, with the exception being Wawaitin, where reservoir elevation is currently holding until draw down commences in the coming weeks," reads the update.
MRCA and municipal staff are closely watching the enclosed parts of Town Creek and Crawford Creek.
The organization has also updated it contingency plan, which will be shared with stakeholders this month.
