Here's what you can buy along Highway 11 right now

The offerings include a century-old farm, church-turned-home and funny farm

From a century-old farm to a church-turned-home, the Highway 11 corridor in Northern Ontario has a number of unique properties for sale right now.

Current listings showcase the region’s mix of properties for buyers looking for a business investment, a unique living space, or affordable land.

Just outside of Englehart, Rosborough’s Funny Farm is listed for $650,000. The property has been on the market for 171 days and has annual property taxes of $670.

In November, owner Cindy Rosborough took to the farm’s Facebook page to share the reasoning behind its sudden closure. 

“I’m on a cancer journey that I’m not concerned I will beat, but farm life is so physical and absolutely constant without reprieve,” she wrote.

The iconic Kenogami Bridge Inn, located between Englehart and Matheson, remains on the market for sale at $899,000. The property, which has been on the market for 232 days, has annual property taxes of $3,000.

The restaurant was recently rebranded as The Bride Restaurant and Bar. According to the inn’s Facebook page, the current owners took over in May 2021.

Last month, the restaurant addressed speculation on Facebook, stating that rumours about a local investor purchasing the business were false. 

In Temiskaming Shores, Ferme Blanche-Rive, a farm established in 1922, is listed for nearly $2 million.

The 129-acre property features a 4,000-square-foot stone farmhouse and has been on the market for 80 days, with annual property taxes of $7,320.

In Larder Lake, a former church-turned-house is for sale at $399,900. It has been on the market for six days, with annual property taxes of $2,960. 

A 10,000-square-foot white pine log cabin situated on a 2.25-acre lot fronting Kanichee Lake is listed at $1.75 million

It has been on the market for 232 days and has annual property taxes of $11,600.

The most expensive listing along Highway 11’s northern corridor is a $4.495 million 26-unit apartment complex in Temiskaming Shores.

The building, completed in 2015, features six bachelor, three one-bedroom, and 17 two-bedroom apartments. The property has annual property taxes of $21,000 and has been on the market for 49 days.

On the lower end of the market, the cheapest properties are vacant lots in the Municipality of Charlton and Dack and the Township of McGarry, both listed for $15,000. 

Market overview

According to the Timmins, Cochrane and Timiskaming Districts Association of Realtors, the number of homes sold in the region totalled 50 in December 2024. This was up by 11.1 per cent (five sales) from December 2023.

There were 347 active residential listings on the market at the end of December, marking a 22.6 per cent increase from the same time in 2023. This was the highest number of December listings in five years.

The average price of homes reached $262,490, marking a 9.9 per cent increase from December 2023.

In 2024, the annual average price was $289,454, an increase of 10.8 per cent from 2023.
