TIMMINS - The new year is on the horizon!
With the mid-week holiday, it means services such as banks and government offices are closed and may have shorter hours than usual when they're open.
Here's what it means for City of Timmins services:
Garbage collection
People who receive curbside collection on Wednesdays will have their pick-up on Thursday, Jan. 2 instead.
The Deloro landfill, German Township landfill and Tisdale Transfer Station are closed on Jan. 1.
Timmins Transit
On Dec. 31 there is Sunday service. There are no buses on Jan. 1.
Timmins Public Library
Hours at the main branch on Second Avenue in downtown Timmins at the C.M. Shields Centennial Library in South Porcupine are different at the start of the week. The schedule is:
- Dec. 30 - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Dec. 31 - Closed
- Jan. 1 - Closed
Other municipal services
City Hall and Service Timmins close on Dec. 31 at 330 p.m, and are closed on Jan. 1.
The Archie Dillon Sportsplex pool and Timmins Museum: NEC are closed on Jan. 1.
The Timmins cemetery office is open on Dec. 31 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and closed on Jan. 1.
