Highway 11 closed in both directions after major collision (Updated)

Update (9:38 p.m.)

Ontario Provincial Police have closed another section of Highway 11 between Highway 112 east in Kenogami and Clear Lake Rd in Kapuskasing. All lanes closed in both directions.

There has been no further update on the investigation.

Update (11:53 a.m.)

A five-vehicle pile-up has shut down  Highway 11.

In a press release, Kirkland Lake OPP said there is an ongoing investigation into a collision that happened on Dec 27 around 7 a.m. on Highway 11. 

The collision involved five vehicles and Timiskaming District Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Kirkland Lake Fire Department also responded.

The highway is still closed from Highway 112 to Highway 66 in both directions and will remain closed while the investigation is taking place. 

A detour has been established to redirect traffic.

The collision took place between Highway 66 and Highway 112 East near Kenogami Lake, according to Ontario 511. Both directions were closed at 8:02 a.m.
