Highway 11 transport truck driver charged with impaired

A transport truck driver was charged with impaired west of Cochrane on March 11.

COCHRANE - The driver of a transport truck seen moving in and out of its lane on Highway 11 has been charged with impaired. 

On March 11 around 8:30 p.m., a James Bay OPP officer patrolling Highway 11 in Clute Township west of Cochrane saw a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) crossing the white fog line and yellow centre line. 

Police said the truck driver was pulled over and the officer determined that the driver had been drinking alcohol. The driver was arrested and brought to the Cochrane detachment for more testing.

A 25-year-old from Hamilton is charged with impaired driving - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). 

The accused is scheduled to appear in a Cochrane court on April 9. 

The accused was also given a 90-day licence suspension and the vehicle (tractor only) was impounded for seven days. 

The charge has not been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
