Timmins and District Hospital proudly receives the Provincial Conversion Rate Award from Ontario Health.

TIMMINS - The gift of life continues to be a focus for the Timmins hospital.

Timmins and District Hospital (TDH) has received the Trillium Gift of Life Network's provincial conversion rate award. The honour is given to hospitals that show outstanding efforts to increase the number of organ and tissue donations from potential donors.

“Last year our team’s invaluable work supported the donation of five organs that saved five lives,” said Kate Fyfe, TDH president and CEO, in a news release.

“I am exceptionally proud of our entire team, who continue to go above and beyond to support patients and their families. This is the fourth time our team has been  recognized for exceptional work which could not have been done without the incredible community we work with.”

Hospital staff encourage people to talk about organ donation and share their wishes with family members.

"Together, the hospital and the community we serve, are making a difference in the lives of people waiting for organ transplants and in honouring the wishes of people who identify as organ donors," said Kim Bazinet, TDH medical services director.
