Hot dogs and hamburgers earn local team some cash

After volunteering at this year's Ribfest, the Falcons received a donation from the local Rotary Club

Members of the Timmins Falcons U15A girls hockey team received a cheque for $2,200 from Rotary Club of Timmins-Porcupine president Ross McIvor.

Local hockey players helped out with a community event and earned a little funding along the way.

the Timmins Falcons U15A girls hockey team received a $2,200 donation from the Rotary Club of Timmins-Porcupine after the players volunteered at the hot dog and hamburger tent at Ribfest in August.

“Your hard work and dedication made a huge difference, and we are truly grateful for your support,”  read a post on the Rotary club’s Facebook page.

There are 34,282 Rotary clubs and more than 1.2 million members world-wide. Rotary International was founded in 1905. 

The Rotary Club of Timmins was chartered in 1949 and is celebrating it’s 75th anniversary this year.

The club hosted the first Rotary Ribfest event in nine years this summer and routinely donates to and works with local organizations like the Falcons hockey team, and the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation.
